I’ve photographed a lot of conferences in Toronto, and a lot of them have been great, but the TEC Canada National Member Conference last week was next level. It was such a pleasure to photograph the day and a half conference for so many reasons, but top of them all, had to be the powerhouse lineup of speakers. To name just a few, they had astronaut/musician Colonel Chris Hadfield, CBC’s Dragon’s Den superstar Arlene Dickinson, and the former Prime Minster of Canada, Stephen Harper. This all Canadian line-up would be impressive no matter when or where they spoke, but the timing and messaging couldn’t have been at a better time, what with, oh, I don’t know, all sorts of international banana pants going on. So yeah, it was a really powerful conference. So excited to be a part of it.
The opening night speaker was Canada’s rockstar astronaut, Chris Hadfield. I’m a huge space guy, so this was a true pleasure. He’s a great speaker, an inspiring leader with relevant stories for any room, but very relevant to a room of business executives who are facing the turbulence of an ever changing neighbour. He even played his guitar and sang for the room, I bet you can guess the song.

On day two, Arlene Dickinson and Prime Minister Stephen Harper both spoke and sat down for a chat with an eager and attentive crowd. It’s not my place to tell you what they said, but it was awesome to hear the Canadian pride in the room, and the resolve to strengthen the country for the better in the wake of very challenging economic uncertainty.
Oh, and I guess I should also mention there was also a great panel discussion with (left to right) Mark Sutcliffe, Charles St-Arnaud, Brian Topp, Goldy Hyder, Chris Casey. Could you get a better panel for Canadian executives?

The conference was held at Delta Toronto Airport Conference Centre, a super convenient location for this Etobicoke based photographer, and heck, anyone who wants to avoid the downtown traffic.
